Local RSL Sub-Branches will benefit from the latest round of the Australian Government’s Building Excellence in Support and Training (BEST) funding to support local veterans and their families.
The Tweed Heads and Coolangatta RSL Sub-Branch will receive over $53,000 while the Ballina RSL Sub-Branch will get more than $23,000.
Minister for Veterans’ Affairs and Defence Personnel Andrew Gee said the BEST Program assists Ex-Service Organisations across the country to deliver the highest quality services.
“This additional funding will help these groups provide veterans even greater transition support, assistance with claims and entitlements, and access to services such as rehabilitation and wellbeing programs,” Minister Gee said.
“It will make a real difference to those on the ground, providing critical support and resources for veterans in the Ballina, Tweed Heads and Coolangatta region.
“This year has been tough for many and this funding boost is a clear commitment of the Australian Government’s ongoing support for our ESOs and the local veteran community.”
Senator for NSW Perin Davey said that ex-service organisations play a crucial role for local veterans and their families, ensuring they are well-supported.
“Local RSL Sub-Branches provide crucial support to our current and former service personnel,” Senator Davey said.
“Providing this support to the sub-branch means that veterans of the north coast will receive the advocacy and support they need and deserve.”
“This will enable the Sub-Branches to fund the cost of support staff, equipment and services that directly support veterans and their families.
