JOINT MEDIA RELEASE
The 21st birthday of the Yass Antique Farm Machinery Club provides the perfect opportunity for the official launch of the National Agricultural technology Museum, following completion of the concept design phase made possible with $150,000 funding from the Australian Government.
Senator for NSW, Perin Davey, who attended the birthday celebrations in Yass, said the design phase evaluated potential sites for the museum and the development of a thorough concept plan to ensure the successful construction of the museum in both a physical and digital format.
“Ultimately this museum will provide a unique experience where people will not only see Australia’s deep history of agricultural technological innovation, but also learn about machinery restoration and view demonstrations,” Senator Davey said.
“Utilising the latest technology, the museum will have a complimentary digital platform to showcase the collection and associated workshops and demonstrations online.”
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development Michael McCormack said the Australian Government’s investment would provide long term benefits to the Yass region.
“Once fully complete, the Museum has the potential to showcase how technology has and continues to contribute to the success of Australian agriculture, especially as we aim to grow the sector to a $100 billion industry by 2030,” the Deputy Prime Minister said.
Senator Davey attended the birthday celebrations of the Yass Antique Machinery Club that has acquired a significant collection of Australian rural history over the last 20 years. This project received $150,000 in funding from the Australian Government under the Community Development Grant Program.
