The Veterans’ Entitlements, Treatment and Support Bill aims to simplify a system so complex it has contributed to suicidality among Australian veterans. Despite bipartisan support, it’s taken nearly two years just to reach this stage, with key changes delayed until 2026. While streamlining is a step forward, rushed amendments and lack of consultation have raised concerns. We must do better to support those who’ve served.
