I addressed the government’s broken promises to the Australian screen industry, particularly their failure to implement content quotas for streaming platforms. Despite a clear commitment from Minister Burke before the 2022 election to introduce these quotas by July 2024, nothing has materialised. I also highlight the lack of progress on key budget promises, including lifting the cap on producer offsets and lowering the offset threshold for smaller businesses. Labor’s lack of action is leaving the Australian screen industry in limbo, failing to support the sector that represents our unique cultural identity.
