The Nationals in government are proud to be delivering the $700 million Singleton Bypass project.
Deputy Leader of the Federal Nationals, David Littleproud, and Nationals Senator for New South Wales, Perin Davey, visiting Singleton on Wednesday hailed the project as a win for the Hunter region as well as North West NSW.
“This significant road investment has been made possible thanks to the determined efforts of our Nationals Leader, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure, Michael McCormack,” Minister Littleproud said.
“While others have talked about this project for so long, the Federal Nationals have secured the $560 million Commonwealth funding to make the project a reality.
“Not only will this project create over 1,370 jobs through the construction but it will also support faster and cheaper freight both to and from the New England and the North West.”
Senator Davey said that the bypass will absolutely transform Singleton.
“The increasing traffic congestion has been a huge concern for local residents and businesses for some time now.
“With over 26,000 vehicle movements per day, including from more than 3,700 heavy vehicles, the bypass will take significant pressure off the Singleton town centre.
“This project demonstrates the Nationals steadfast commitment – both at a state and federal level – to supporting our regional communities.”
Construction on the project is expected to start in mid-2023 and be completed by late 2026 and is being jointly funded by the Australian Government ($560 million) and NSW Government ($140 million).
